Are you Catching on to the DVD Ripping Craze?

Are you catching on the DVD Ripping craze? Find the quick answers you are looking for and start ripping right away!

New technology means new experiences for us. And DVDs are exactly that - a new way to watch our favorite movies, TV shows and anything else with a completely new level of quality.

However many advantages the DVD technology has like video quality, sound, compactness, it has one disadvantage - it’s not very durable.

That’s why you have to backup your DVDs from time to time. Now this doesn’t mean you should it every month. But once in a while you’ll have to or you’re going to lose your favorite DVD.

But don’t worry - there are literally 100s of software programs out there that will do all the work for you. You’ll be able to copy your DVDs to CDs, or DVD to DVD. Heck, even VHS to DVD or CD.

But there’s one problem here as well - not all software programs are created equal. Some are geared towards the PC nerds. And when you check out a few of them you’ll agree with me that this is the case with most of them. It’s really hard finding one that’s really simple a press-one-button-and-you’re-ready kind of software.

Now, even when you find one simple solution it’s still not certain if it’ll fit your needs. Because basically the simpler the software program is the less functions and worse quality it has. So that’s basically the dilemma you’re pretty much bound to experience.

It all depends on what you really need the end product for — if you’ll be watching it on a TV picture quality is probably not that case so much because you won’t be able to see the difference on your TV. But otherwise you better check out your options carefully before making a decision.

Go to the search engines (no need to scan through every one of them - just your favorite will do) and make a search for DVD copying or DVD ripping software. You should find quite a few. Read the reviews and make your decisions. Most of them offer free trials so you’ll even be able to test them without spending any money whatsoever.

My advice to you is to ask a few friends (especially if you have some more experienced ones) or go to Download.com and read what the experts have to say. Maybe even buy a few PC magazines or visit their forums online (most of them have) and ask what would people recommend you based on your needs and experience.

Happy Ripping!

Tennessee Proposes Own Crackdown on College Campus File-Sharing

New bill prohibits the “infringement of copyrighted works over the school’s computer and network resources.”
Despite a lack of evidence that the widespread “theft” of copyrighted works is occurring on college campuses in the state of Tennessee, or the absence of any real entertainment industry interests like California, lawmakers there are considering a new bill that would force public colleges to crack down on illegal file-sharing.
The bill recently introduced in the Tennessee State Senate, SB 3974 , would force colleges that receive state funding to police their networks to prevent illegal file-sharing by students, staff, and faculty.

An official RIAA training video has been leaked that is every bit as humorous as you’d expect it to be. The first question given in the video clip below is why music piracy should be addressed in the first place.

FREE Music Download of the Day - SXSW 2008

Annual entertainment festival releases new compilation with more than 3GB of music from emerging artists.
Last year I stumbled accross a worthwhile music compilation made available for free BitTorrent downlaod by teh folks over at the annual South by Southwest Music and Media Conference & Festival event in Austin, Texas. It’s that time of year again with just as large a swath of new music as before, and no doubt filled with as just as many brilliant emerging artists.
